Jeffrey Epstein Philanthropy: About

Jeffrey Epstein Philanthropy is a part of the The Jeffrey Epstein VI Foundation. The foundation was established in 2000 to support cutting edge science and science education around the world. Since then, the foundation has expanded to other fields and is an active supporter of innovative programs in education, youth initiatives, international peace accords and medical research. The foundation is based in New York City, New York, and in St. Thomas in the the US Virgin Islands.

In 2003, the Foundation established the Program for Evolutionary Dynamics at Harvard University with a $35 million gift. The Program is one of the first of its kind to study the evolution of micro biology with the use of mathematics. It also became one of the first departments to develop a mathematical model of how cancer cells evolve as well as infectious bacteria and viruses such as HIV. Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Program’s models have led to key discoveries towards combatting diseases of all kinds and have encouraged researchers around the world to do the same.  More recently, pivotal work has been done in combatting colon cancer resistance to inhibitor drugs, mapping the progression of pancreatic cancer, targeting the minority mutations that drive tumor growth, creating a database to predict resistance to the HIV virus and many other areas.
